April 2006

I will be travelling to Laval, France to present my paper, "Real-Time Music Visualization using Responsive Imagery" at the Virtual Reality International Conference (VRIC).

March 2006

I had the opportunity to perform my multimedia piece, Deep Surrender, at a private function held in the Margaret Zeidler Star Theatre at Edmonton's Telus World of Science. What a fantastic experience! The visuals were at least two storeys high in the dome theatre!

January 2006

I have received funding from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts so that I may return to Paris in June and attend a music and technology festival. I am very excited, and grateful to the Alberta Foundation for giving me this opportunity.
I have completed my thesis and degree requirements, and will officially convocate as a Mistress of Science (ok, Master of Science) in June.

Pierre Boulanger and I will be giving a talk at the American Psychiatric Association Annual Meeting in Toronto next May. The talk is entitled "Music Triggered Avatars: A New Way To Express Emotion In The Virtual World."

July 2005

I went to visit my friends at the Banff Centre, and became accquainted with a fabulous media artist, Carmen Gerstl. Carmen's recent installation at the Banff Centre was utterly fabulous. Carmen and I are excited to be in the early stages of collaborating on a new project incorporating her graphics with my music visualization application.

June 2005

I was the feature story on CBC Radio One's Edmonton AM on Tuesday, June 28. Ron Wilson interviewed me about my work in music visualization. I performed one of my pieces, and talked about the work I've been doing. Listen to the interview.
The St Albert Gazette featured the virtual reality laboratory in June 22nd's Scene Feature. Anna Borowiecki and photographer Jason Franson spent hours in the lab with us, putting together this exciting article. CDPlus in St. Albert Centre is now carrying my cd, "Amethyst".
Dr. Pierre Boulanger and Daniel Torres and I have had another paper describing our music visualization system accepted for publication. I'll be presenting it at Smart Graphics in Munich at the end of the summer! After Munich I'll be heading to Dublin to attend Eurographics. Plus, I'll start my trip by visiting Paris to obtain source video for my next multimedia project.

May 2005

I've just returned from the New Interfaces for Musical Expression conference in Vancouver. I had a paper accepted at the conference, which I got to present in poster format during one of the sessions. The conference was phenomenal, with concerts, talks and demonstrations by numerous world-class new music professionals. Very educational, and very fun!

I'll be adjudicating at the FuturesFest this year. This is going to be very exciting, as I'm a former FuturesFest winner, and a "singing contest" veteran. Come out and see if I'm prettier than Simon Cowell!
